The Seventh Wonder of World

Taj Mahal
One of the most famous building of 21st  centuary “THE TAJ MAHAL”  built by the MUGHAL EMPIRE who rule the sub-continent for more than 300 years. They built many famous monuments especially in the DELHI and LAHORE.

Why Taj Mahal was built?

The Taj Mahal was made to order by SHAH JAHAN The fifth ruler of the Mughal family” in 1631, to be built in the memory of his beloved  spouse “MUMTAZ MAHAL”( a Persian princess) who died on 17th of June that year, during the birth of their 14th child who was named “GAUHARA BEGUM”.

Construction
  • Construction of building started in 1632, and the tomb was finalized in 1643, while the nearby buildings and garden were finished five years later.
  • The materials that were used to build Taj Mahal were moved to the construction site by a monstrous 1,000 elephants.

SUMAN POKHREL,a Nepali poet who is known as the most creative voices of South Asia said:
“Taj Mahal is not just a monument, but a symbol of love.”

Intersting Facts

It has been said that the  changing moods of the Kings better-half are well captured by the varying hues of the Mausoleum at various times of the day. It takes a rose-pink hue in the morning, creamy white in the sunset and golden at night when illuminated by moonlight.

Rosy-Pink in morning
Creamy White in sunset
Golden at noon
Rabindranath Tagore ,the Bengali poet and one of the “Noble prize” winner of INDIA once said:

“The Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time.”

Some Interesting History

Many of the precious stones on the mausoleum were removed from the walls of the monument by the British army during  The War of Independence” in 1857.

Myth

It has been said that the emperor chopped off the arms of the workers who took part in the development of Mahal.

Reason

So no one can never ever built a monument like that but is no more than a myth.

Why its not true?

Because Mughals were fond of architecture and beauty and if they had to cut off hands of every person who participate in the construction than no one will ever again work for them no matter how much they pay.
They built many buildings like Badshahi Mosque,Masjid Wazir Khan,Tomb of Jhangir,Sheesh Mahal(Lahore) Jamia Masjid(Delhi) and many many other in Agra and overall. So, if they cut hands after every building completion so no one can ever build a building like this then why on earth next time any one will ever work for them?

Beside gardens it has spectacular waterworks.

Water works

I found the Taj Mahal as the most appropriate example of artistically expressed love.”
